Gameday! Habs vs. Stars Preseason Game #1

Tuesday September 20, 2011

Montreal Canadiens vs. Dallas Stars

At long last, there is hockey to watch!!  I know, I know.  It’s only preseason but I am beyond excited nonetheless.  This is a big year for this club, with a lot of questions to be answered.  Will Markov come back in peak form?  Will Carey Price continue his amazing play from last year?  How is Gorges knee?  Is Subban really as good as he seems to be?  Which of the young kids is going to make that next step to superstardom?

All these questions will be answered in time, and watching these things develop is what being a hockey fan is all about.

I, personally, am expecting big things from this club.  (what else is new?)  I expect continued dominance from Price and Subban, a healthy return from the gimpy defense duo, and big seasons from all of Desharnais, Eller and Pacioretty, who could very well be, the line of the future.

Who’s out?

  • Andrei Markov (still recovering from knee surgery)
  • Scott Gomez (questionable – lower body injury)

Keys to the Game

As it is Preseason, this game is all about getting the legs moving, getting into the competitive spirit, and having a look at who they have coming up in the ranks.

Expect lots of ice time for people like, Alexei Yemelin, David Desharnais and Ryan White.  Plus some extended looks at Enqvist, Palushaj, Avtsin and Gallagher, who, has REALLY been impressive in camp so far.

My Prediction

Big games from Desharnais and Gallagher.  The little guys show the big guys who’s boss.
