Montreal Bulldogs vs. New York Rangers
Well entrenched in a playoff position, the Habs will face a desperate Rangers team who are still in the middle of a playoff positioning battle. With a win last night over the Lightning the Habs are closer to a first in the conference position, then missing the playoffs. Yaaaaaaay!
Now that being said, now is not the time to take the foot off the gas. Great news came out that Max Pacioretty could be ready to play, come playoff time, but there are still a bevy of important players out with long term injuries. The youngsters have played well, but will need to look to the experienced veterans down the stretch and into the playoffs to succeed.
Alex Auld should get the start against the Rangers, giving Carey Price a much deserved rest. Auld has had the Rangers number over the years, with a GAA of well below 1.oo.
- Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
- Josh Jorges (out indefinitely)
- Max Pacioretty (Broken Neck)
- Tomas Plekanec (Day to Day)
- Jeff Halpern (Day to Day)
- Brent Sopel
- Hal Gill (day to day with flu)
- Mathieu Darche
- Jaroslav Spacek
- Chris Drury
- Martin Biron
- Alexander Frolov
- Derek Boogaard
Keys to the Game
Let the kids go to work. Palushaj and Dawes were both impressive in their Habs debuts last night. Palushaj had several chances to pot his first NHL goal and Dawes scored a shootout goal. Let them roll with it.
Montreal 4 – New York 2
***UPDATE – Much to many people’s surprise, Carey Price will get the start tonight. Look for an Alex Auld start on Sunday***
