Montreal Canadiens vs. New Jersey Devils
Matinee, huh? The only thing that even comes close to my love for the Habs, (aside from my family) is my love for the Green Bay Packers. A day with a matinee Habs game, followed by the Pack in the Superbowl? Wow! It just doesn’t get any better than this!
I was terrified the Habs would come out of the gates slow after the allstar break, and we would see them plummet down the standings. This has not been the case. They have picked right off where they left off, winning all their games since the all star break, with hard fought tight checking affairs. Price has been outstanding, and has definitely shaken off the demons that found him after his last all star appearance. (I’m sure everyone remembers what happened there.)
- Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
- Josh Jorges (out indefinitely)
- Mike Cammalleri (Shoulder)
- James Wisniewski (flu)
- Bryce Salvadore
- Zach Parise
- Matt Corrente
- Matt Taormina
Keys to the Game
Wisniewski is out with the flu, which brings Picard back into the lineup for the second straight game. Picard came to play yesterday, dropping the mitts with Avery in the first period and then sacrificing the body with a stellar shot block in the third.
Plekanec, Gionta and Pacioretty look great together, and it seems Gomez has received the message having lost his long time friend and linemate, and has picked up his play. He scored the game winner in yesterday’s game.
