Montreal Canadiens vs. Calgary Flames

It's a preview to the Heritage Classic!

Why is it every time Eklund has a Habs rumor, it just so happens to be a trade with a team they are playing that night?  Eklund is reporting that the Habs are trying to obtain Robin Regehr, while “the ball is in Montreal’s court” meaning, Gauthier might not like what Calgary wants in return.  If the price isn’t too high, Regehr could be a nice addition to a depleted Habs blue line, adding some much needed toughness.

The Flames are in town, and the last few seasons have been rough on this team.  This is of course, no reason for the Habs to play a soft game, as every game counts in the standings.

Who’s out?

Montreal

  • Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
  • Josh Jorges (out indefinitely)
  • Alexander Picard (healthy scratch)

Calgary

  • Steve Staios
  • Daymond Langkow
  • Tom Kostopolous
  • Robin Regehr
  • Raitis Ivanans

Keys to the Game

The Habs sat back on Saturday night after going up 3-1 over the New York Rangers, and it almost cost them.  The Rangers stormed back and fired 21 shots at Carey Price in the 3rd, which Price stopped all but one.  When is Martin going to stop playing with fire like this?  Is it a lesson for his team?  Or is it a detriment?

Mike Cammalleri seems to need a spark to get him out of his recent funk.  What better than a game against his former club?

Price will get the start again and should continue his strong play.

My Prediction

Montreal 3 – Calgary 2

***update***  James Wisniewski and Benoit Pouliot missed the morning skate due to ‘flu like symptoms’.  They are both now listed as a game time decision.
