Gameday! Habs vs Islanders

Montreal Canadiens vs. Long Island Islanders

As I sit on my couch this boxing day, turkey still digesting, childrens toys still littering the living room floor, I find my self having a little trouble getting amped up for this game.  That being said, I truly hope the Habs are not in the same state of mind as myself, as this game comes with much importance.  After losing 5 out of the last 7 games, this boat needs to get turned around.  And turned around now.

Who’s out?

Montreal

  • Andrei Markov
  • PK Subban (healthy scratch)
  • Tom Pyatt (healthy scrach)

Long Island

  • Trent Hunter
  • Mike Mottau
  • Doug Weight
  • Rick DiPietro
  • Mark Streit
  • Kyle Okposo

Keys to the Game

Montreal got back to playing within Martin’s system on Thursday, something they must continue to do in order to be successful.  For a team lacking any sort of bonafide “franchise” star, (although Carey Price may be making a run at it) playing as a team in a controlled system is very important, and this team can do it better than any Habs team in the last couple decades.

PK Subban WILL be a star, but some time in the press box is forcing him to be a student of the game, and teaching him the importance of humility.

My Prediction

Montreal 4 – Long Island 1
