Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Two teams at the top of the Eastern Conference. Two teams that shocked the hockey world by squeaking into the playoffs only to uproot all the top seeds on their way to a battle in the conference finals. Two teams that ultimately came up short, and now? Now they are hungry.
The Habs have been a touch offensively challenged in the last few games. Maybe a hard match with a tired Flyers team is just what the doctor ordered. The Flyers are coming off a hard fought 3-2 victory over a surging Penguins team that had gone unbeaten in 12. They ought to show signs of fatigue.
- Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
- Dustin Boyd (healthy scratch)
- Jaroslav Spacek (upper body)
- Matt Walker
Keys to the Game
Montreal has called up Max Pacioretty from the Bulldogs, where he has been tearing it up this season. He made headlines earlier this season when he told the press he would rather stay down in Hamilton and play a top six role than come up to the big club and get stuck on the fourth line. Martin has been pleased with his play and has reportedly told him, “play the game that has made you successful”. This should give Max the confidence he so desperately needed in his last stints with the Canadiens. Look for him to matched up with Gomez and Gionta and a move of Cammalleri back to the top line with Plekanec and Kostitsyn
