Gameday! Habs vs. Oilers

Wednesday December 1, 2010

Montreal Canadiens vs. Edmonton Oilers

VS.

It’s the smurfs vs. the feisty kids everyone!  Come one come all!  Speed, speed and speed!  This game has all the makings of a serious end to end affair.

It’s too bad the Oil moved Souray down to the minors, because the fans at the Bell Centre would LOVE to bring out the boo birds for this guy.  Oh well, I guess they’ll be cheering their own team instead.

Who’s out?

Montreal

  • Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
  • Dustin Boyd (healthy scratch)

Edmonton

  • Nikolai Khabibulin
  • Ales Hemski

Keys to the Game

Much has been said about the young trio of Hall, Eberle and Pajaarvi, and this might be their biggest test to date.  Coming to play at the Bell Centre is a daunting task for any player, and many a rookie has been shell shocked into a poor performance over the magnificence of the hockey in “La Belle Province.”  Will they panic, or will they thrive?

As for the Habs, more of the same is the rule of the day.  Despite a few defensive breakdowns, this team has written a new book on “team play”.  Martin has these guys playing as a unit, and the results are fabulous.

Continued strong play from Carey Price is also essential.

My Prediction

Montreal 6  – Edmonton 2
