Game Day! Habs vs. Kings

Wednesday November 24, 2010

Montreal Canadiens vs. L.A. Kings

Another quality matchup.  One of the best in the west.  Intensity from Sun City.  Hollywood Hockeytown.

However you want to describe it, this is bound to be a good matchup. Two teams at the top of their division, doing battle to keep their seasons successes going.  Could it be a preview of a cup final?  We can always dream.

It is crucial for the Habs to win these Western matches.  They are very important in the standings.  If a team can win it’s western matchups while division rivals lose, it really helps climb up the ladder.  Or in the Habs case, stay at the top.

Who’s out?

Montreal

  • Andrei Markov (Torn ACL-out indefinitely)
  • Dustin Boyd (healthy scratch)
  • Matthieu Darche (healthy scratch)

Los Angeles

  • Willie Mitchell
  • Alexei Ponikarovski
  • Scott Parse

Keys to the Game

Jonathan Bernier will take the crease for the Kings tonight.  Being a hometown boy, he will be amped up for this game.  The Habs must get to him early, while the Bell Centre lights are still stinging his teary eyes.  While his ears are still ringing from the crowds cheers.  DO NOT LET HIM GAIN CONFIDENCE!  If the Habs can get to him early, the crowd will take care of the rest.  This will not be a pleasant homecoming.

My Prediction

Montreal 5 – Los Angeles 2
